Furi was a serendipitous discovery on the first day of 2025. I was browsing cars from the junkyard as usual, acquiring some decent ones as donors, and this April 1994 S 320 found its way to me. It had no keys, the interior looked great through the windshield, and was a low-mileage example. Overall in a boring hotel shuttle spec – a good organ donor.
It wasn’t until we did some work and lit up the dashboard that I read the mileage: 9966 km. Wow, not much, not less. A bit overkill as a donor, but it was also a lot of trouble to restore. Years of idleness led to comprehensive damage, but I couldn’t think of a better place to go, so I finally decided to keep it and restore it to a state that matches the mileage. A little background: The car was probably last driven in 2003 and had been sitting in an apartment parking lot for a long time without the owner showing up. After a long legal process, the property finally sent it to the junkyard in 2025, and there was some forklift damage due to the lack of keys.
Furi is the name of a neighbor who came into my life around the same time as this car. She was a fiery single mom who moved in with her daughter. She seemed to have a bad temper and often yelled at her daughter, so the name was very suitable. I found that my new neighbor had many similarities with this car. They were both attractive, neglected, and strange. In terms of specifications, Furi was not my favorite, so I felt that I was just entrusted with her restoration and custody, and we were just passing by each other. Maybe one day I will give her to a museum.
After six months of work, Furi became one of the school’s best cars and was put on display. In return for being redeemed, Furi’s benefit to the school is profound. Due to her original state and the strict restoration to original specifications, she provides a reference for all other cars. Furi currently stands in our lobby as a template for study at any time.
